The Uttar Pradesh government decided on Saturday to reopen schools for all grades in the state from Monday. He also decided that from the same day, all government and private offices will operate at full capacity of employees.
The decision was made in light of the drop in Covid cases in the state.
Previously, the government allowed the reopening of physical lessons for students in grades 9 to 12, colleges and universities from February 7.
The government has also directed relevant officials to ensure Covid-19 protocols are followed in government offices.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officers to make Covid help desks functional in all government, semi-government, private establishments, businesses, monuments, offices, religious places, hotels/restaurants and industrial units.
All state government offices will work with full staff from Monday towards a decrease in Covid-19 cases, said a circular issued by Chief Secretary DS Mishra.
The circular says that all previous orders limiting the presence of staff in government offices have been rescinded. “All government offices will open with 100% staff attendance from February 14,” the circular said. “However, the district administration will take a call on the opening of offices or the presence of staff in offices falling in areas marked as hotspots,” he added.
Meanwhile, according to a circular issued by Additional Chief Home Secretary Awanish Awasthi late Friday evening, said gymnasiums could also reopen but swimming pools and water parks should remain closed. Restaurants, hotels and movie theaters can operate at full capacity, he said.
“However, restaurants and hotels are required to screen visitors and ensure that everyone wears a mask,” the circular said.
Following an increase in Covid-19 cases, the state government had imposed several restrictions to avoid overcrowding in public places like restaurants, multiplexes and hotels etc. last month. Also, it restricted public places such as gymnasiums, movie theaters, banquet halls, restaurants, etc. to operate at 50% capacity in districts where active cases exceeded 1,000. At wedding ceremonies and other social events, no more than 100 people were allowed in closed venues at a time.
Now, from Monday, all these public places can operate at full capacity.
